After School teams up with Shibuya 109 for a Christmas campaign

Talented girl group After School will be continuing their endorsement activities in Japan with a special Christmas promotion for Shibuya 109, a well-known Japanese department store located in Shibuya.

As part of their special campaign, large banners measuring 21 meters by 9 meters will be plastered onto the Shibuya 109 building with festive-themed photos of After School from December 5th to the 25th.

The girls will be sporting a variety of different outfits in colors closely related to Christmas, paired with matching holiday accessories and backdrops. The company plans to put up at least 200 different posters around the department store in order to fully show After School’s sexy charms.

This marks the second time that Shibuya 109 has used a popular Korean group for their advertisements. Previously, SNSD acted as models for  Shibuya 109′s Christmas campaign, ‘Illuminations‘.

In related news, After School will soon drop their second Japanese single “Diva” on November 23rd.

Shinhwa promises fans that preparations are in progress for their comeback on March 2012

Now that five out of six members have reunited, preparations for Shinhwa‘s official comeback have kicked into high gear.

On November 18th, representatives of Shinhwa revealed to Star News“Excluding Lee Minwoo, who is currently serving in the military, the remaining five members are finally back from the army and are preparing well for their official comeback next year.”

We plan to release a brand new album in March of 2012, straight after Lee Minwoo gets discharged from the military. Shinhwa will also be holding an official celebration of their 14th debut anniversary through a special concert in Seoul on March 24th.”

With regards to the recent disputes between the members about their comeback, the representative stated, “Is it possible to have every member agree on every aspect of their comeback preparation? The members respect the differences in opinion and they’ve carefully worked on resolving each issue together as a team. Currently, there are no issues regarding the group’s comeback, and all members have nothing but motivation for their comeback preparations.”

Another representative also revealed, “The Shinhwa members have a healthy relationship with one another, and there are absolutely no problems regarding their comeback.”

Additionally, the CEO of Kim Dong Wan and Shin Hye Sung‘s agency wrote on Twitter, “When asked a question on their secrets to the group’s longevity, a member once answered that the group resolves internal problems by letting out their personal thoughts and arguing a lot.”

He continued, “I think the members will still be like that in the future. They will talk frequently, argue frequently, and forgive frequently, all the while caring for each other… They’re still the people who, after an intense discussion, one member would suddenly get up and do the ‘butt dance’ to make the other members burst into laughter and relieve the atmosphere. Shinhwa forever ^^”.

Girl group Rainbow has delivered a stunning pictorial with ‘SURE‘ magazine!

The concept for this month’s photoshoot was ‘party girl‘. The members went for a more sophisticated twist on sexy by wearing opulent jewelry, richly colored make-up, and glamorous dresses — resulting in a look that matched the environment of a top tier party.

According to a ‘SURE’ staff representative, “With the entire staff, including all 7 members of Rainbow, it was going to be a tough task to maintain order with everyone. Thus, we were concerned that the set was going to be chaotic. However, thanks to Rainbow’s cheerful personality and aegyo, everything went well and we were able to create a hot pictorial.”

How many albums have Korean singers sold so far this year?

How many albums have Korean singers sold so far this year up to November?

According to ‘Gaon Chart’, which runs the nation’s representative album charts, Super Junior has come out on top in album sales of all the Korean singers who have released albums from the 1st of January till the 6th of November. Super Junior have sold 322,000 copies so far and as their rank hasn’t changed so far, they’ve been deemed ‘the album kings of 2011′.

Big Bang came in second place with 217,000 copies sold while TVXQ came in third with album sales of 201,000 copies. JYJ are currently in fifth place with 158,000 copies sold.

Kim Hyun Joong was the only solo singer to be in the ‘top 5′ with over 200,000 copies sold of his first and second mini albums ‘Breakdown’ and ‘Lucky’.

With less than two months left of 2011, the battle to secure second to fifth place is expected to be fiercer than ever as album sales continue to change. Though male singers have currently dominated the top five spots, female singers are also kicking up a storm. Girls’ Generation and Wondergirls have recently released albums and are expecting to sell over 100,000 copies.

Wondergirls took picture with Jeon Hyun Moo

KBS announcer Jeon Hyun Moo recently took a picture with Wonder Girls.

On November 18, Jeon tweeted a picture with the comment, “Wonder Girls will appear on 89.1MHz Jeon Hyun Moo’s Music Square in a minute.”

In the picture, Jeon is wearing a big happy smile with the Wonder Girls. The Wonder Girls still look beautiful with no makeup on their faces and wearing comfortable clothes.

People responded: “They look like neighbors.” “Jeon looks so happy!  He is beaming from ear to ear.” “I will listen to the radio!”

Wonder Girls recently started performing their new song “Be My Baby” in Korea.

Lee Dong Wook and Lee Si Young gets the lead role in new drama “Wild Romance”

On November 17, a GNG Production representative revealed that Lee Dong Wook and Lee Si Young were cast as the leading characters in a new drama called “Wild Romance“.

The representative stated, “Because this drama is the product of a famous writer and a producer, both actors did not hesitate to take up the offer.” The writer is none other than Park Yeon Sun (of SBS’s ‘Alone in Love‘), while the producer is Bae Kyung Soo (of KBS’s ‘Seven Famous Princesses‘).

The plot of ‘Wild Romance’ revolves around a tough guard (Lee Si Young), who falls in love with a baseball player (Lee Dong Wook).

“Wild Romance” is scheduled to air its first episode in January of next year. Stay tuned for more updates!

KARA’s “Super Girl” got first on iTunes Japan

KARA‘s new Japanese album ‘Super Girl‘ was ranked as the top downloaded album on iTunes Japan.

Prior to the official physical album release on the 23rd, the girls dropped the digital album via iTuneson November 16th. ‘Super Girl’ immediately became the #1 most downloaded album on iTunes, proving KARA’s explosive popularity in Japan.

Tracks on the new album include “Jet Coaster Love“, “Go Go Summer“, “Winter Magic“, as well as three bonus tracks, “Mister“, “Jumping“, and “Step“.

KARA released their first full-length album ‘Girls Talk‘ last December, and it sold over 400,000 copies worldwide. The success of “Mister” carried over to their second album, and their third album is expected to be met with a similar reaction from fans.

Their management stated, “The album will be released in three different versions. The different versions will contain a behind-the-scenes DVD as well as pictorials from their photo shoot along with the tracks themselves, revealing the different appeals to the KARA members. Please show them your support.”

Their second physical Japanese full-length album will be unleashed on the 23rd.
